Introduction

Who are we?

The Beacon Project is a student-led community service organization created by Rithik Rajesh (President of The Beacon Project), alongside his fellow Galena High School peers, Neel Gorla (VP of Marketing – manages our social medias), Roshan Balaji (VP of Operations – makes sure meetings and presentations run smoothly), and Areeb Mohiuddin (VP of Community Engagement – contacts schools about presentation opportunities and events).

Our Mission

Here at The Beacon Project, we wish to address the many concerns and issues students face in their journey towards high school, which can hinder their overall life skills, including their academic ability, behavior in class, relationships, and their future as a whole. We wish to target an audience of elementary and middle schoolers in the Washoe County School District area, to help them make proper use of their time in school and journey to the real world. Some of the topics that we hope to discuss are proper sleeping habits, correct social media usage, importance of monitoring your mental health, time management, and many more. Our team has organization plans to discuss these topics through in-person presentations at your school, since visual, hands-on, and engaging presentations can lead to the student’s better understanding of the topic.

The goal

Our main goal is to inform kids early-on about the many serious issues damaging students across the nation, and the best way to combat this is head-on. This organization, being made and led by high school students, allows these presentations to be told from a student-to-student perspective that makes each presentation more personal and honest.
